Celebrating Young Adult fiction by UK authors

UKYA on the town: Heart-Shaped Bruise launch

Last Thursday saw the London launch party of Tanya Byrne’s debut, Heart-Shaped Bruise. UKYA authors converged on London from all over the country: Cat Clarke and Liz Kessler won, um, our admiration for travelling the furthest, but so many authors were tweeting from trains that Cat compared us to The Avengers. Book Avengers Assemble!

The pre-launch drinks, the launch itself, and the, er, post-launch drinks were all wonderful. (What can I say? We don’t get together very often.) It was so fantastic to meet so many authors I’ve previously only chatted with online and, of course, it was wonderful to meet Tanya and celebrate with her. Wish I’d had a cake though.

Thanks to Liz Kessler and Kay Woodward for the photos.

  1. Looks like a great launch and a good time had by all! Wish I’d been there. Wishing Tanya every success with her debut novel.

  2. The launch sounds awesome–gutted I couldn’t actually be there (turns out I *kinda* was)! *looks for all the YA authors/bloggers* 🙂
